Lesson 3: The three minor periods

In Yantra yoga, there are three minor periods which indicate the three phases or periods of life a person goes through.

The first minor last from birth till age 27
The second minor last from age 27 until age 54
The last minor lasts from age 54 until death

In general, the effect or influence of the minors can start to be felt even before they begin, sometimes even a few years before.

The first period is calculated by reducing the birth month, so for example if someone is born in May, which is the fifth month, then his first minor period is governed by the 5.

The second minor is calculated by reducing your birth day, so for example, if a person is born on the 27th day a month, then we reduce the 27 by adding together the 2 and the 7 to get 9. Therefore this person's second minor is a 9.

The third minor is calculated by reducing the person's birth year. So for example, if a person is born on in 1967, we would add together like this 1 + 9 + 6 + 7 = 5.

See this example- SUE is born on the 23rd January 1967.

This is how we write it down as explained previously:

1  5  5  =  2

SUE has a 2 Birth path and from the age of 0-27 she is under a 1 period. From the age of 27-56, she is under the 5 period and from the age of 56 till death she is under the 5 period.
